Rex Wilkinson
Consultant

RIBA

Rex established CZWG with his founding partners in 1975. Rex has held a particular interest in construction technology and legislation and its impact upon architecture, which helped pioneer the practice’s contribution to a new post-modern era of urban housing. Rex’s role has been to spearhead design for the practice and his notable projects include two of the six CZWG buildings granted protection by Historic England as part of the recent tranche of Post-Modern listings. The first is Cascades, the striking and distinctive reinvention of high-rise living combining a dramatic silhouette with playful industrial and riverside allusions. Rex came to the project with fresh ideas based on his study of waterside developments in Hong Kong, Sydney and San Francisco. The second, Aztec West, a pioneering business park based on two intersecting squares with internal courtyards at the centre. Rex has taught architecture at the AA and the University of Westminster where he subsequently became a visiting examiner. Rex studied architecture at the Architectural Association in London. He became a design consultant to the practice in 2019.
