Richard Buckley
Associate (Information Technology)

Richard has worked at the intersection of architecture and technology throughout his career, with a broad role at CZWG encompassing IT and BIM management, 3D visualisation and project support. Having joined the practice in 2004, he was made an Associate in 2024, recognising the breadth of his contribution across both practice-wide systems and project work.

He began his career with GMW Architects in 1986, training as an Architectural Technician before moving into the emerging field of CAD and IT. Working with some of the earliest architectural CAD systems, he went on to become a CAD Manager and provide technical support across a range of major commercial office and airport projects, including Atatürk Airport in Istanbul and the Pier 4 development at Gatwick Airport. He later developed a particular interest in architectural visualisation, working as a 3D visualiser before joining CZWG.

At CZWG, Richard combines responsibility for the practice’s IT and BIM systems with 3D visualisation and direct involvement in project teams, particularly during the design and planning stages. His role spans both practice-wide systems and project work, giving him a detailed understanding of how technology can support architectural workflows from early design development through to planning.

Richard has a keen interest in emerging technologies and their practical application within architectural practice. He is actively exploring the use of AI across 3D visualisation, creative workflows and IT management, with a particular interest in how new tools can improve efficiency, communication and the way project teams work.
