Sophie Ryder
Architectural Designer

BA(Hons) | MArch

Sophie gained valuable pre-planning experience working on the successful LB Tower Hamlets planning application for East Riverside, Poplar, a residential-led mixed use waterside development formed of three curved plan towers adjacent five retained arches of the old Tram Depot and workshop. The proposals include a new south-facing public square on Leven Road and a dramatic riverside walk along Bow Creek. Sophie's responsibilities included extensive modelling of the existing fabric and new proposal scheme and the production of information for stakeholder review and the planning submission.

Sophie has a keen interest in urban planning and development, the design of contemporary architecture within historic cities and reusing building materials as a means to transfer cultural and heritage value. She recently worked on the mass and layouts of the planning proposals for Hornsey Road, a student accommodation scheme in Islington which will restore the historic rail arches and introduce new uses that are compatible with the area's regeneration vision.

Sophie completed her undergraduate studies with Honours and her Masters qualifications from the University of Kent.
