Stephen Rigg
Consultant

BA(Hons) | AADip | RIBA

Stephen has particular expertise in community, public use and residential sectors. His acclaimed community-led projects include the Canada Water Library for Southwark Council, awarded numerous nominations including a RIBA regional award, a Civic Trust Award and the Selwyn Goldsmith Award for Universal Design, and The Curve, the key community amenity in the on-going regeneration of Slough’s town centre – ‘The Heart of Slough’, completed for Slough Borough Council in collaboration with BBLUR architecture. Stephen’s principal residential-led developments include Vermilion, the first phase of a flagship development at the heart of Newham Council’s Canning Town and Custom House £3.7bn regeneration programme, and the Hoola residential tower scheme at the Royal Victoria Docks. Stephen also led the delivery of the acclaimed Crown Street Regeneration Project for a 17.4 ha site in the Gorbals, Glasgow. The masterplan has since been implemented and proven so successful it is still cited as an example for others of its kind.

Stephen has worked to strengthen CZWG relationships with local authorities and, in recent years, housing associations. Stephen led the successful delivery of two affordable housing schemes on the south coast for the Southern Housing Group; Grange Road in Ramsgate and Maison Dieu Road in Dover, winner of the Southern Housing Group Design Awards for both design excellence and resident feedback. He also worked on the feasibility, planning and detail design packages for Free Wharf, the residential-led mixed use waterfront scheme in Shoreham-by-Sea. Stephen studied architecture at the University of Manchester and the Architectural Association in London. He became a consultant to the practice in 2021.
